ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My artistic endeavors reflect personal narratives and contemplative perspectives on the essence of our human experience. I am driven by a deep sense of responsibility to use my creative work to acknowledge and illuminate both personal inner as well as societal issues that shape our current world.

My method of painting transposes music into colors and shapes, using dance-like movements to create the underlying composition. Following this stage of creation, a conversation between myself and the painting begins. I have no preconceived ideas of what the piece will look like or speak about. Intuitively placed marks are continuously directed by the music. As I keep working, the layers of the composition, discernable figures, patterns, and meaning begin to emerge. The story begins to unfold before me by elaborating on the colors and shapes that are speaking the clearest while letting quieter ones recede or disappear.

I firmly believe art has the unique ability to transcend personal and cultural boundaries, thus creating the opportunity to initiate and promote growth, exchange knowledge, and build bridges.​

Creativity has been my loyal companion through a life of colorful messes, trials, and triumphs. It is the source of all that I need and serves as a source of healing, growth, exploration, enlightenment, and connection.

I feel it is important to expose as many people as possible to the power of their natural-born creative spirit. From my perspective, creativity has furthered mankind and is vital to our growth and survival.
